Light Filtering Without the Dark

Migraine and Light Sensitivity Lenses in Centennial

If light sets off your migraines, the right lens can quiet the trigger without making the world go dark. At Hamilton Vision Center, we fit precision-tinted lenses that filter the specific wavelengths of light linked to migraine and light sensitivity. They look nearly clear, work indoors and out, and we fit them for adults and children.

How Precision Tints Work

Not all light bothers a migraine brain equally. Research points to certain wavelengths, in the blue-to-amber range, as the biggest triggers. Precision-tinted lenses filter out those specific wavelengths while letting the rest through, so colors still look natural and you are not stuck wearing sunglasses indoors. We test tints in the office so you can see which one helps before you commit, and when it makes sense we coordinate with your neurologist. Tints ease symptoms for many people, though they are not a cure and results vary.

Relief for Everyday Light

Fluorescent office lights, computer screens, and the bright sun are common triggers, and avoiding them is not realistic. These lenses let you keep working, driving, and living without paying for it later with a headache. Patients tell us they can finally get through a full day in front of a screen or under store lighting without their eyes bothering them.

What These Eyeglass Lenses Help With

Precision-tinted lenses can ease:

  • Migraines triggered or worsened by light
  • Light sensitivity after concussion or injury
  • Discomfort under fluorescent and office lighting
  • Glare and strain from screens
  • Every day photophobia that sunglasses over-darken

Light Sensitivity Options for Children

Migraines in kids are especially hard when medication is not a good option. Precision-tinted lenses give parents a drug-free way to cut a major trigger, and children can wear them at school without looking like they have sunglasses on indoors.

We fit them as part of our pediatric eye care, so the whole picture is considered.
